Hands-free water for all
Ahead of the DDA legislation coming into force in October, drinking machine specialist, Maestro International, has developed a range of ‘Barrier-Free’ water coolers.
The latest addition is the SBF6 model, a wall mounted unit suited for areas of high pedestrian traffic and designed to be used by both impaired and non-impaired people.
The jet of the cooler is positioned at the front edge of the basin, which in turn projects beyond the cooler’s main body and allows easy access for users in wheelchairs.
A recent refinement by the company has been the inclusion of a PIR sensor on the cooler, making it totally hands free (hence ‘Barrier-Free’). As people approach, the water flow starts. When they move away, it stops.
The SBF6 has a stainless steel basin, cabinet and fittings and is designed for permanent installation with the cooling tank under mains pressure.
