Universal Orlando Resort in Florida, US, has revealed detailed plans for a new theme park inspired by the adventures of fictional wizard Harry Potter, which is set to open in spring 2010.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will aim to bring author JK Rowling's creation to life with a range of attractions, including the Dragon Challenge twin high-speed rollercoaster based on the Triwizard Tournament. A family coaster - Flight of the Hippogriff - will simulate a Hippogriff training flight over the grounds of Hogwarts castle, while other attractions are set to include Ollivanders wand shop and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Castle.
Plans also include a signature eating establishment and a range of shops, such as the Three Broomsticks and Hog's Head pubs to feature traditional British food and drink, as well as Zonko's joke shop and Dervish and Banges - featuring Quidditch equipment and magical instruments. The theme park is being created in conjunction with Warner Brothers Consumer Products, the Warner Brothers Harry Potter brand team and JK Rowling, while the films' production designer and art director and Universal Creative will be help to ensure visitors receive the most authentic Harry Potter experience.
