Software outfit, BRP Systems – which took on a new majority investor in the form of Nordic Capital in May – has revealed a refreshed board of directors.

BRP’s cloud-based solutions are used in 2,600 health clubs, studios, spas, pools and sports facilities with three million end users and the company has its eye on further expansion outside its heartland in the Nordics.

Nina Bjornstad, who has over 20 years’ experience in senior positions at companies such as Amazon, Microsoft and Google, has been announced as the company’s new chair.

Bjornstad’s career to date has spanned multiple industries beyond software, including telecomms, sustainable development, IoT and AgTech. She’s also a strategic advisor to Mace Group, Telenor, Saga Robotics and Utopi.

“With its scalable platform and leading-industry solutions, BRP Systems is well-positioned for European expansion, driven by value-creating acquisitions and market trends,” said Bjornstad. “I look forward to supporting the company through its next growth phase”.

Lisa Åberg and Tomas Liljeborg have been appointed as board directors. Åberg – a McKinsey alum – also serves on the boards of SATS Group, Hjo Installation and Avanza, while Liljeborg is chair and founder of Macrobond, a global provider of software, as well as macroeconomic and financial data.

Nordic Capital partner, Joakim Lundvall and MD, Rolf Torsøe, have also joined the new board.

Torsøe said: “We’re impressed with BRP Systems’ flexible platform and solid market position and confident the company will be able to accelerate its growth ambitions further with the support of Nordic Capital.”

Thomas Säld, CEO of BRP Systems, said: “We look forward to broadening our offering in existing and new markets. Nina, Lisa, and Tomas have deep knowledge and operational expertise that will be invaluable to us on our continued growth journey.”

The global market for health and fitness-related software is a very dynamic one, with country-based software providers consolidating and expanding to extend their reach more widely as the market globalises.
