Health facilities set for Hull rugby league clubs
New health and lifestyle facilities are to be developed by Hull Kingston Rovers and Hull FC rugby league clubs after NHS Hull agreed to provide funding towards the schemes.
The new Hull Kingston Rovers centre will form part of a wider project to expand the East Stand at the club's Craven Park venue, having received £300,000 from NHS Hull to include services including weight management support and help for people looking to stop smoking. Hull Kingston Rovers operations manager James Elston said: "The new facility will give opportunities to people both young and old in East Hull in terms of health awareness and leading an active lifestyle.
"It will build on the work that is already being done through schemes such as the rugby league coaching sessions, 'Fit Fans' and martial arts classes for men, women and children." Meanwhile, NHS Hull will provide £700,000 towards health and lifestyle facilities at The Boulevard, which is to become a training base for Hull FC if the legalities of a lease can be finalised with the local authority.
Hull FC plays its home games at the city's KC Stadium.
