Hereford greenway route unveiled
The route for a new pedestrian and cycle 'greenway' connecting Hereford city centre and Rotherwas has been unveiled by the local authority.
Herefordshire Council revealed its plans for the scheme, which have been drawn up by consultants Amey and will includes the construction of a new bridge over the River Wye. Sustainable transport charity Sustrans is contributing funding for the scheme, with additional investment coming through the government's New Growth Point initiative.
Richard Ball, the council's assistant director, said: "This greenway will provide a major walking and cycling route through the city and it is then planned to create future links as shown on the plan. "This will further increase the number of safe routes we can offer commuters who we hope will then leave their cars at home and walk or cycle to work instead."
