Hotel and spa expansion plans for Drayton Manor
Staffordshire-based Drayton Manor Theme Park has unveiled plans to add an 86-bedroom hotel, a waterpark, a spa and log cabin accommodation to its 286-acre site – which currently offers rides, family attractions and a zoo.
Phase one of the £29m scheme will be the development of the hotel – to be designed by John Pass Associates and CA Design of Leamington Spa.
It will feature contemporary business, themed and family rooms, two wedding suites and a presidential suite, plus a convention centre and two function rooms, part-time cinema, swimming pool and spas, an a la carte restaurant and a gallery bar.
Additional accommodation will be provided for visitors to the park in the form of 120 self-contained log cabins. Each will house between four and 10 people. All buildings are to be constructed from sustainable materials.
Plans for the waterpark – currently called Stormalong Bay – include 20 water slides and attractions such as kamikaze high slides, tubes, wave pools and gentle river raft canals. Details: www.draytonmanor.co.uk
