Intelligent Spas reveals Australian research
Independent global spa research company Intelligent Spas has revealed its fifth spa study on the Australian spa market.
The new research has found that more than 600 spas are operating in Australia, expecting to generate AUD500m (US$464m, 307.3m euro, £279.5m). Of these spas, a total of 67 per cent were day spas (not co-located with accommodation) while the remaining 33 per cent were destination spas, incorporating hotel, resort and retreat spas offering overnight accommodation.
Commenting on the research results, Intelligent Spas managing director Julie Garrow said: "Overall, the Australian spa industry continued to grow during the global economic crisis. However, some key performance indicators per spa declined due to the crowded market. These updated statistics will help owners operate more effectively going into 2010." Details: intelligentspas.com
