Golf and health and fitness operator Clubhaus has revealed an £11m investment programme and a new name.

The company has changed its name to The Club Company following its management buyout in May this year.

“It’s an exciting time for the business,” said managing director, Charlie Parker: “The developments are the largest undertakings in the history of our company.”

The Club Company is to add health and fitness facilities to its golf-only clubs at The Warwickshire, Warwick and Chartham Park, west Sussex. Work is already underway at the sites and represents an investment of £7m and £3.4m respectively.

The development at The Warwickshire club will include a 5,500sq ft gym featuring Technogym’s Excite range, a 20x10m indoor pool, children’s pool, two studios, a relaxation area with sauna, steamroom and tanning, as well as a beauty suite, crèche and café. The development is due to complete in autumn 2005.

Meanwhile, Chartham Park will soon boast a 3,200sq ft gym, 19m pool, three studios, a crèche, café and bar when it is completed in spring 2005.

In addition, the company has also announced a £0.5m refurbishment of its Tytherington country club in Macclesfield and a £0.25m refurbishment of its Nizels club in Hildenborough, both due to complete before the year end.

“The addition of a wide range of health and fitness facilities will cater for a variety of interests and activities and will allow us to attract new members,” said Parker.

The company currently owns and operates seven country clubs and four golf clubs with more than 30,000 members.

The investment programme leaves just two golf-only clubs, to which the company also plans to add health and fitness facilities in future.
