JD Gyms kicks off 2026 with new group programming
JD Gyms has introduced a new group exercise class for the new year. JD Engine is a coach-led conditioning class incorporating exercises that focus on building speed and endurance.
The 45-minute session is a hybrid training routine consisting of running, rowing, skiing, lunging, wallballs and more, to drive personalised results.
Lee Matthews, chief operating officer of JD Gyms, says: “JD Engine is an exciting, results-driven class that’s accessible to everyone, no matter where you are on your fitness journey. We can’t wait for our members to experience the energy, challenge and community that the workout brings to our gyms.”
Matthews says this move is in response to research showing the benefits of group training, as well as consumer demand. According to a study published by the National Library of Medicine, exercising in a group setting is more effective than exercising alone, due to the social connections, support and accountability that the group brings. And in the past month, there have been more than 176,000 UK Google searches for ‘exercise classes’.
JD Gyms recently hit the milestone of 100 sites in the UK. CEO, Alun Peacock was recently interviewed in HCM. He said the company is delivering sector-leading metrics.
