Hotel investment volumes in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) decreased by 39 per cent during the first quarter of 2012, according to new Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) data.
The figures compare with the same period last year, but JLL said Q1 2011 was "distorted" by around EUR1bn (£823m, US$1.3bn) from three major transactions in Europe.
Taking into account the effect of the "distortion", JLL found volumes actually increased 7 per cent, with Paris and London seeing "strong" investment activity in Q1 2012.
