With many global training budgets tightening – and with many spa therapists finding themselves temporarily out of work – donation-based access has emerged as a way to continue to provide this important training

Julie Bach, executive director of specialist cancer therapy training provider Wellness for Cancer (WFC) has announced the organisation will provide donation-based access to its foundation training during the coronavirus crisis.

“With many global training budgets tightening – and with many spa therapists finding themselves temporarily out of work, donation-based access has emerged as a way to continue to provide this important training,” said Bach.

“Providing donation-based access has been a top priority for us, but with the coronavirus pandemic, we’ve decided that this is an ideal time to encourage spa therapists and wellness professionals to focus on building a strong foundation on being cancer-aware.”

WFC’s foundational training is designed to increase confidence around cancer and massage.

The 16-hour home-study programme, which traditionally includes textbooks, assignments and online lectures, has been expanded with live access to regional trainers online.

“Regional trainers are crucial during this time, as the need for social togetherness and feeling part of the industry is increasingly important,” says Bach.

“I’m honoured to offer this step forward for everyone,” says Bach. “I’m so pleased by how receptive so many spas and brands have been to WFC’s training, and I hope this move will help bring that training to even more people.”

More details are available here for these training options.

Access to Cancer Aware Foundations Massage Textbook and Online Training has launched and online enrollment for the programme has also begun.

Regional Trainers Online Lectures will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays during 14–28 April.

WFC has also announced it is collaborating with CIDESCO on their own curriculum for beauty therapists and Bach was recently announced as a committee member of the newly launched Standards Authority for Touch in Cancer Care.
