Kerzner bid supplemented by aquarium
Bahamas-based casino operator Kerzner International has revealed that it plans to build an aquarium as part of its S$5.28bn (£1.8bn, US$3.3bn, 2.6m euro) bid for Singapore’s second casino resort.
The 24.2-million gallon aquatic attraction at the proposed entertainment complex on the resort island of Sentosa would be bigger than SeaWorld Adventure Parks in Florida, which is currently the largest water-based theme park with 19 million gallons.
The aquarium would contain live marine creatures such as beluga whales and manta rays as well as robotic aquatic creatures. Visitors would be able to view the marine life from underwater tunnels.
The Kerzner and CapitaLand consortium is competing against Malaysia-based Genting International in partnership with cruise operator Star Cruises as well as Mississippi-based Isle of Capri Casinos in cooperation with Melco International Development.
The project will be awarded by the end of the year. Details: www.kerzner.com
