The RuMa Hotel and Residences in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has opened a results-driven integrated spa concept conceptualised by A.W. Lake Wellness Design.

Located on the 6th floor of the hotel, the spa reflects the hotel’s style while embracing the emotional, aesthetic quality and local context for which Urban Resort Concepts (URC) is known. UR Spa is designed to offer a sensorial journey and respite from the everyday grind with principles rooted in modern science and ancient healing.

In keeping with URC’s signature concept of Hostmanship, the spa creates a guest experience that revolves around each individual guest’s needs in an environment that is personal, engaging and intuitive.

“We developed and tailored the spa therapies with Comfort Zone, one of the industry’s leading creators of science-based formulas, to offer supercharged treatments that can be enjoyed singularly or tailored to the individual’s schedule for targeted, optimal results,” said Richard Williams, A.W. Lake’s pre-opening consultant.

As a prelude to all treatment, guests will enjoy a welcome ritual with Kabat stretch and a botanical inhalation, preparing the mind and body to fully benefit from the treatments that follow.

Five signature core therapies include UR Ageless, a rejuvenating advanced natural facial for those desiring effortlessly radiant beauty; UR Active, an invigorating and fortifying ritual for globe-trotting individuals seeking vitality and revival of the spirit; UR Vital, incorporating a full-body scrub, massage and Italian Grotta mud mask to revitalise overstressed individuals wishing to attain a complete restoration of being; UR a Warrior, a healing formation that strengthens body and mind for a balanced state; and UR a Goddess, a nourishing and restorative balm for exhausted individuals seeking respite from the frenetic pace of modern life.

Embracing handcrafted experiences with locally inspired cultural authenticity, UR Spa has created a series of treatments that incorporate the healing traditions of indigenous cultures – from the mystical Malay art of Urut, to the ancient healing knowledge of the Northern Borneo tribes – to complement the range of core therapies and express treatments while delivering transformative results that amplify balance, health and vitality.

Five treatment rooms, including a couple’s suite, along with a dedicated foot therapy lounge, pay tribute to Malaysia’s colonial heritage, while numerous relaxation spaces are available to unwind.

Guests can also enjoy access to Truefitt & Hill – a London-based traditional gentlemen's barber – along with rare single malts from Scotland on the drinks trolley.

Post treatment, guests can adjourn to the Santai Pool Bar and Lounge to indulge in all-day refreshments and snacks while taking in the views of the 25-meter outdoor infinity pool and sundeck cantilevered from the building overlooking the city’s landmarks.

“URC has always been focused on the delivery of an urban resort experience premised on a soothing, understated and revitalising environment that gives intimate access to a destination,” said Markus Engel, CEO of URC. “Creating a proprietary spa brand was a natural step in our evolution to provide a bespoke and tailored approach to a holistic wellness lifestyle.”

UR Spa’s range of core therapies will also be introduced at URC properties including The PuXuan Hotel and Spa, Beijing, The PuLi Hotel and Spa, Shanghai and The PuShang Hotel and Spa, Xiamen.
