LA Fitness rolls out Prime Time scheme
LA Fitness has launched a new exercise programme developed specifically for the over-55s.
The LA Prime Time scheme, which has been piloted over 24 months in 30 clubs, is structured to address generic age-related issues such as strength, stability and flexibility, as well as ailments such as osteoporosis, arthritis and diabetes.
Stuart Broster, chief executive officer of LA Fitness, said: “Getting old is a mindset. True, our bodies change and there are things that we’re probably slower at, but for many, the onset of middle age is accompanied by a quiet resignation and a tendency to slow down and take it easy.
“The truth is, the more active we are in later life and the more regular exercise we take, the better the quality of life, the greater the mental dexterity and the more likely we are to stop or slow down the onset of diseases.”
The classes include Healthy Hearts (low impact aerobics), Senior Strength (a free weights class to lower the risk of osteoporosis while preventing arthritic problems by supporting the joints) and Gentle Water (an aqua aerobics class). Details: www.lafitness.co.uk
