LOCOG seeks private backing for 2012 wrap
A decision to scrap the Olympic Stadium wrap appears to have been reversed after London 2012 organisers invited the private sector to supply the feature.
The provision of the wrap was withdrawn from the Olympic Delivery Authority's "budget and scope" following the government's Comprehensive Spending Review. However, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) is now seeking expressions of interest from companies to supply the wrap.
LOCOG said it would explore possible sponsorship opportunities in exchange for sector-exclusive marketing rights as part of the procurement process. Paul Deighton, chief executive officer at LOCOG, said: "We have had significant interest in supplying the stadium 'wrap' from the private sector, so now is the time to start a formal tender process."
