Learn new skills at the British Motor Museum this autumn

The British Motor Museum is inviting people to learn new skills with its series of motoring related workshops this autumn.

The Museum will be holding workshops to enable participants to learn skills from professionals in photography, creative writing, drawing and classic car ownership. Each course includes entry to the Museum so participants can also visit the world’s largest collection of historic British cars.

On October 20, guests will take part in an informative day aimed at those who wish to buy and own a classic car called the 'Classic Virgins Experience Day'. Experts will deliver guidance on classic car ownership and provide basic practical workshop maintenance sessions. Participants will also have the opportunity ride in a variety of classic cars.

For those interested in photography, the Museum is offering three workshops. ‘Cars through the Lens’ on 6 October is aimed at aspiring photographers while 'Lights, Camera… Cars’ on 7 October focusses on developing lighting skills for the more advanced. In addition, 'Cars through the Lens goes Studio’ on 17 November is perfect for experienced photographers looking to develop photographic techniques, composition and lighting in a home studio setting.

Workshops for those interested in art and sketching will commence on the 7 October with ‘Sketching and painting Land Rovers’. It will be led by artist and Land Rover enthusiast Maria Clancy and will cover how to capture the characteristics of these popular vehicles.

Richard Cook, a pencil sketcher, will deliver a more general sketching workshop called ‘Sketching from Automotive History’ on 20 October followed by an ‘Automotive History in Watercolour’ workshop on 21 October, giving guests the chance to paint their favourite cars with watercolours.

Furthermore, Cook will also deliver two workshops to participants solely based on perspective. ‘Automotive Sketching in Perspective’ on 24 November will cover techniques such as one and two point perspective, vanishing points and the horizon line, with the addition of an advanced perspective workshop on 25 November for artists wishing to gain an understanding of 3 point perspective.

For those interested in creative writing, bestselling author Sharon Bradshaw will deliver ‘Motoring Memoirs’ on 20 October. Guests will be taught creative writing techniques and the skills they need to form their own vivid stories.
