Leisure industry figures named in Birthday Honours list
The Queen celebrated her official 80th birthday on 17 June and has named several members of the leisure industry in her Birthday Honours list.
David Michels, former chief executive at Hilton Group; Brian Ivory, chair of the board of trustees at National Galleries of Scotland and David Richards, chair of the FA Premier League and the Football Foundation were all knighted.
Karen Jones, chief executive of Spirit Group, was awarded a CBE, while Brigid Simmonds, chief executive of Business in Sport and Leisure; Elizabeth Nicholl, director of UK Sport; Peter Lee, former chief executive of the Football Foundation and Simon Woodroffe, founder of Yo! Sushi, were among those awarded OBEs.
MBEs were given to David Luckes for services to the London 2012 Olympic bid and Craig Crowley, chair of UK Deaf Sport among others. Details: www.direct.gov.uk
