Licence for 24-hour drinking during Rugby World Cup
The Coliseum Group, owner of the Sports Café chain, has obtained a licence for its Haymarket, London venue to operate 24-hours a day for the duration of this year's Rugby World Cup.
The pioneering arrangement, obtained at a special hearing at Horseferry Road Magistrates Court, will run from 10 October to 22 November.The Haymarket site offers four separate bars, 120 tvs and eight Plasma screens, a dance area, a pool lounge and full service restaurant.
David Evans, Coliseum operations director, said: I am delighted that we will be able to welcome the legion of Rugby fans into the unique atmosphere of The Sports Café for every second of the World Cup.He also paid tribute to the most knowledgeable and progressive thinking licencing authorities at Horseferry Road.
Coliseum currently operates Sports Café venues in London, Manchester and Birmingham and a further five sites are in various states of progress throughout the UK. Details: www.coliseumgroup.co.uk
