Lifestyle Centre in Winsford to be used for GP referrals
The £10.8m Lifestyle Centre in Winsford, Cheshire – scheduled to open at the end of February – could be used as part of a patient referral scheme.
Vale Royal Borough Council, which will operate the site, works with the Central and Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust to provide leisure facilities for patients prescribed fitness programmes by GPs and half-rate prices.
Patients currently use Moss Farm’s facilities, but the Mid-Cheshire Chronicle reported that they will be able to use the Lifestyle Centre when it opens.
As previously reported in Leisure Opportunities, the centre will include an events hall, a 25m swimming pool, teaching pool, squash courts, dance studio and a health and fitness club. Other facilities will include a cyber café, bar and conference space.
The new facility will replace the existing Winsford Sports Complex and is part of the Winning Winsford regeneration programme, which will include the redevelopment of the town’s waterfront.
