Lighting up the jewels
Electronic gem therapy, which involves shining lights at varying wavelengths through gems (yes, real ones including diamonds, sapphires, rubies and emeralds) is the latest treatment for a wide range of complaints from asthma and eczema to sciatica and stress. And the surprising thing is that it is showing extremely good results.
Lilias Curtis, known for her success with magnet therapy, is championing this new cure. It uses a Lux machine, invented by Jon Whale, an independent research scientist, who designs and develops medical equipment such as x-ray image intensifiers and scanners. It is a serious piece of hospital equipment and has nothing to do with colour therapy or crystal healing.
The machine uses particular light frequencies combined with the stones' natural properties to induce energy in diseased or injured tissue, organs and glands. It may sound a bit like medieval alchemy, but success rates - 90 per cent in treating asthma in children - suggest otherwise. The procedure is completely non-invasive and non-toxic so it's even safe for babies. Details: +44 (0)20 7731 4715.
