Liverpool FC owner questions rationale behind stadium proposals
By Pete Hayman
Liverpool Football Club (LFC) owner John W Henry has questioned the rationale for a new stadium or the redevelopment of Anfield as a means of generating additional revenue.
In an interview with The Anfield Wrap, Henry said the Premier League club will look towards global commercial revenue streams to improve its ability to compete financially.
Henry said: "A belief has grown that LFC must have a new stadium to compete with United, Arsenal and others. No one has ever addressed whether or not a new stadium is rational."
Last month, LFC managing director Ian Ayre said the club was "making progress" towards a decision on the future of its stadium.
