Livingstone launches Summer of Sport
As part of the celebrations to mark the first anniversary of London winning its bid to host the 2012 Olympics on 6 July 2005, London Mayor, Ken Livingstone, has launched the London Summer of Sport – a season of sporting activities taking place across the city.
The initiative, which is being run in partnership with Sport England, will allow Londoners to try a variety of sports in taster sessions which are either free or low cost. More than 100 events will take place up until September.
The Trafalgar Square celebrations also included the unveiling of a specially branded bus which will spearhead the ‘Be Part of 2012’ roadshow, which will run across the country. Details: www.london.gov.uk/summer-of-sport
