London Irish training plans receive backing
More than 2,500 people have supported London Irish Rugby Football Club's (LIRFC) plans to move to a new £12m training complex on the site of a golf club in Surrey.
The club is aiming to move to a new facility at Hazelwood Golf Club in Sunbury under the proposals, which will also include 194 new homes, a health centre and a care home. Three LIRFC players presented a petition containing the signatures of 2,500 people to Spelthorne Borough Council on 8 April to illustrate the support for the club's plans.
LIRFC chief executive Andy Martin said: "These plans are vital for the future of the London Irish family and we have been overwhelmed with the level of support to date locally, regionally and nationally."
