Matrix Fitness was awarded a £400k contract from luxury golf hotel Old Thorns Manor to kit out a new 25,000 sq ft fitness area at the venue.

Open to guests and members alike, the Elevation Health and Fitness gym, which has views over the Peter Alliss-designed championship golf course, offers the newly launched C7xe Climbmill by Matrix, and the E7xe Elliptical.

Elevation is also the first gym in the UK to offer the Matrix A7xe Ascent Trainer.

Each piece of CV equipment has a Vista Clear Television and iPod docking station enabling gym users to watch films, TV programmes or listen to their iTunes while they workout.

The cardio machines feature in-built Matrix Fitness Virtual Active programming showing their final destination in video content displayed on the console, along with the sensation of terrain changes under their feet and the environment sounds through their headphones.

Myride technology is also on offer, combining HD video, 140 virtual destinations and thousands of cycling challenges.

For strength training, the Matrix G7 series resistance equipment has been installed in the gym, as well as free weights.

Additional facilities include a new aerobics and indoor cycling studio, 20m swimming pool and sub-tropical pool, and new outdoor terraced area.

Old Thorns Manor luxury golf hotel and health spa was built more than 30 years’ ago, the vision of Ken Wood - the entrepreneur most famous for the Kenwood Chef food mixer - who had a dream of creating a golf course with a small, exclusive membership.

It is set in 400 acres of countryside on the borders of Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex and also features the Atrium champagne bar, sports bars, spa and conference centre.
