Mayor opens two new Sandwell play areas
Two play areas have been unveiled by the Mayor of Sandwell in the West Midlands, following a £124,500 investment by the local council.
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) is behind work to improve play facilities at Forge Mill Farm and West Smethwick Park as part of the government's Play Pathfinder programme. A new trim trail, a basket swing suitable for disabled children and a climbing tower with helter-skelter slide have been installed as part of £46,000 worth of improvements at Forge Mill Farm.
Meanwhile, £78,500 has been invested at West Smethwick Park to overhaul the play area, which now boasts a climbing net with agility trail and a new set of swings. Harry Mitchell Park in Smethwick and Haden Hill Park in Cradley Heath are next in line for a makeover as part of a wider initiative to overhaul 28 facilities across the borough.
