Members in line to buy Queen's Club
The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) is close to selling the Queen’s Club to the Queen’s Club Project Group (QCPG) – the organisation negotiating on behalf of the members – for £45m.
The QCPG has been given an exclusive option to purchase the club, pending a judgement from the High Court to confirm the LTA’s ownership, which has been challenged by a small number of club members.
In a statement, the LTA said: “Any questions about the ownership of the club must be resolved once and for all.
“The LTA believes that the proposed sale to the members is in the best long term interests of British tennis and the club.”
Chair of Queen’s and the QCPG, Alexander Anton, said: “This is a great result. Financing will come from members, the All England Club and bank support.
“We are confident of raising the required funding and will now move forward to firm it up.”
