Metis scoops design award
Metis Physiotherapy Centre, which opened at the Long Dock, Theatre Royal, Drury Lane last September, has won a design award.
The facility walked away with the award for best contemporary commercial project at the Design and Decoration awards on 10 June, announced by tv presenter, Kevin McCloud.
Other finalists included the flagship Wedgewood store on Regent Street and Harvey Nichols restaurants in Edinburgh and Manchester.
The physiotherapy centre in London Dock is within a Grade I listed building and includes five freestanding treatment pods with a mirrored finish to reflect the brick, wood and glass original warehouse structure around them.
It was created by design group, Detail, who also worked on the Croyden Metis, which opened in 2001.
David West, managing director of Metis, said: “The design of the centre has been integral to the success of Metis and we are delighted that the judges appreciated what we have achieved.”
