A new leisure centre in Midhurst in West Sussex has won the backing of Chichester District Council.

The leisure aspect of the multi-million pound project – to be called the Grange Centre – could include a four-court sports hall; two squash courts; two dance rooms; a 60-station gym; a health suite area; a café and changing areas.

The council now has to find an architect and design team to produce the plans for the building.

Myles Cullen, leader of Chichester District Council, said: “Both Chichester District Council and West Sussex County Council have the opportunity to show commitment to this project. It provides us with a partnership opportunity to combine our experience to provide a first class multi-purpose facility to include leisure, library and day care services.”
