Minister maps out Ulster-Scots Academy plans
Northern Ireland culture, arts and leisure minister Nelson McCausland has unveiled a vision for the future development of the Ulster-Scots Academy.
A number of measures to evolve and enhance the academy have been put forward, as well as proposals that will recognise and preserve its heritage. Plans include the establishment of a Ministerial Advisory Group to develop a framework for the academy and its priorities amid the Comprehensive Spending Review period.
McCausland said: "Last year, a major independent survey showed that Ulster-Scots continues to be widely recognised, across both sections of our community, as an integral part of the cultural fabric of Northern Ireland. "As such, and as part of a shared future, it is only right and proper that we continue to support and promote this important aspect of our culture."
