Murry Group completes Bournemouth takeover
A consortium led by the Dorset-based businessman, Adam Murry, has completed the acquisition of football club AFC Bournemouth (AFCB) after securing a majority stake.
The Murry Group, which also includes the League Two club's former co-owners Jeff Mostyn and Steve Sly, has taken over from Paul Baker, who put AFCB up for sale after admitting that he could no longer afford to provide enough funds to cover the club's losses. In a statement, Murry said: "There are many challenges that lie ahead, challenges we are ready for to take this club forward and the hard work starts now. It will not be easy. This club has had a traumatic couple of years and it is our task to put it back on an even keel.
"Off the field, many urgent issues need to be addressed and lots of questions need answering, and we will endeavour to do this. AFC Bournemouth is a major part of the community and we will be launching a number of schemes to reflect this."
