Natural history brought to life in Norwich
A £70,000 refurbishment of the natural history gallery at Norwich Castle Museum in Norfolk is nearing completion.
The revamped wing will inform visitors about natural history collectors in the Victorian and Edwardian periods, showcase a replication of a gentleman's study and detail how the museum's own collection came into being.
The museum's existing collection of stuffed mammals and birds has also undergone treatment for bugs.
David Waterhouse, assistant curator, said: "The gallery used to just contain mammals but it now has twenty one themed displays containing all forms of natural history including rocks, fossils, shells, minerals."
Funding came from the DCMS/Wolfson Museums and Galleries improvement fund.
