New deal reached over London cycle track
The Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) has confirmed that alternative proposals for a new road cycle circuit and park will be incorporated into the new Lee Valley VeloPark.
Located to the north of the Queen Elizabeth II Olympic Park following the 2012 Games, the VeloPark will feature an amended 1-mile (1.6km) cycle circuit and a large area of parkland. British Cycling; Sport England; the OPLC; and Lee Valley Regional Park Authority - owner and operator of the new VeloPark - have worked together to reach the new agreement.
A joint statement read: "The plan proposes that the consented one-mile cycle circuit route is amended to create a new area of open space and accessible riverside, along with a large park for families and local residents to enjoy. "The circuit will be part of the wider Lee Valley VeloPark with a new, enhanced area for mountain bike trails directly adjacent to the BMX track, on land to the east of the Velodrome."
