New facilities for North Somerset venue
New facilities have been fully opened at Churchill Sports Centre, Churchill Green, by North Somerset Council (NSC) and leisure trust Tone following a £900,000 investment.
A new £300,000 all-weather 3G artificial pitch has been provided at the facility, while a new gym with around 30 stations and accessible changing facilities have also been created.
The investment by NSC and Tone also included the conversion of an old gym into a multi-purpose studio and an upgrade of the swimming pool lighting.
In addition to the new and improved facilities at Churchill Sports Centre, the sports hall and outdoor tennis courts at Churchill Academy will be available to the public outside school hours. The gym space was designed by Createability.
NSC executive member responsible for leisure facilities Felicity Baker said: "By working in partnership with Tone, we are making a significant investment in a facility for the benefit of both the local community and the school, despite the huge financial pressures we are under."
