New management plan for Lake District
A consortium of partner organisations and local authorities have published a "radical" new management plan for the Lake District National Park, which covers the next two decades.
The Lake District National Park Partnership comprises more than 20 agencies and is one of the first organisations of its kind that have come together as part of a joint approach.
Among the main areas of focus for the new plan is sustainable tourism and visitor facilities, as well as farming and forestry; transport and movement; and employment and business.
Partnership chair Lord Clark of Windemere said: "As the Partnership's plan is a working document, reviewed and updated annually, it will remain current and sensitive to the changing environments we now find ourselves in."
