New outdoor activities centre opens in Falkirk
The Waterways Trust Scotland and Falkirk Council have opened a £1m outdoor activity centre designed to get young people in the region more active.
The Action Outdoors centre has been built on the bank of the Union Canal and will allow young people to engage in activities such as canoeing, cycling, rock climbing and angling.
The project received funding from numerous sources including sportscotland Lottery Fund, the Scottish Government, Falkirk Council, and Big Lottery Active Futures.
Falkirk East MSP Cathy Peattie, who officially opened the centre, said: “This is a very welcome addition to the sporting facilities available to families in the area. I’m sure it will be very popular and it’s great to have it on our doorstops, making the most of our local assets.
“This will make the canal more accessible and enhance people’s appreciation of our local waterways.”
