New tourism body unveiled today
Kim Howells, minister for tourism will announce this morning that the new body formed by the merger of the British Tourist Authority (BTA) and the English Tourism Council (ETC) is to be called VisitBritain.
Two new logos will be unveiled, one including the words 'Marketing British Tourism' and the other 'Marketing English Tourism', to recognise the organisation's dual role.
Chief executive of VisitBritain, Tom Wright, told Leisure Opportunities: 'VisitBritain will build the value of tourism by marketing England within Britain as well as Britain to the rest of the world.'
The organisation is already developing plans for a spring campaign to promote domestic tourism and internationally will continue its Leading the World to Britain campaign.
The new name is to be unveiled at the British Travel Trade Fair at Birmingham NEC this morning.
