New waterpark splashes down in Myrtle Beach, US
A new US$2m (€1.5m, £1.2m) waterpark has opened at Crown Reef Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, US, as part of a massive overhaul of the resort, which is under new ownership.
The new Wild Water & Wheels waterpark includes three large slides – standing 38 feet (11.5m) high – and a new water play area with water sprays and bucket dumps. The new additions join the existing pools, lazy river and spa pools that already were there.
A consortium named Crown Reef Resort bought the resort in August 2013 for U$16.1m (€11.9m, £9.4m) and has invested about US$7.5m (€5.5m, £4.4m) upgrading the guest rooms and adding amenities including the waterpark, a Loco Gecko restaurant, coffee bar and an arcade.
