The O2 – formerly known as the Millennium Dome – in Greenwich, London, UK, will host an exhibition called Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs from November 2007 to August 2008.

The 60,000sq ft (5,575sq m) exhibition will display 50 objects from the tomb of the Egyptian boy king, in addition to a further 70 artefacts from royal graves also discovered at the Valley of the Kings in Egypt.

Only seven of the effects were displayed in the 1972 Tutankhamun exhibit at the British Museum in London, which attracted 1.7 million visitors.

However, Tutankhamun’s famous gold death mask will not feature, as it is too fragile to leave Egypt.

The collection will be presented in eleven different galleries, each featuring its own backdrop and thematics.

The venue is scheduled to reopen to the public in July, with a concert by American popstar Justin Timberlake. Details: www.visitlondon.com/tut
