Old Trafford scheme faces further hold-up
Lancashire County Cricket Club's (LCCC) bid to redevelop Old Trafford cricket ground in Manchester is to face yet another legal challenge from developer Derwent Holdings.
The Bermuda-based group has confirmed that it is seeking leave to appeal the High Court's decision to uphold Trafford Council's approval for the multi-million pound scheme. LCCC has announced that it has now been forced to postpone its AGM on 13 April after it was revealed that Derwent Holdings would be taking its challenge to the Court of Appeal.
"We have now been forced to take the unprecedented action of cancelling our proposed AGM, pending the outcome of this latest legal threat," said chief executive Jim Cumbes. "We remain totally confident that, although they will attempt absolutely everything due to seemingly unlimited financial resources, that we shall succeed eventually."
