Oldham Community Leisure is to install a mobile swimming pool into a local school sports hall in a bid to help children learn to swim and understand water safety.

The concept, called Pools in Schools, has been developed by Olympian Steve Parry’s Total Swimming organisation, and was first launched in Liverpool in July 2007.

The pool is being set up at South Chadderton School to increase opportunities for children and the local community to swim, which have been limited following the closure of Chadderton Pool in August 2006.
