Opening of £2m Bromley Tennis Centre
The London Borough of Bromley has opened the new £2m Bromley Tennis Centre at Newstead.
The facility, designed by William Martin & Partners, is the first purpose-built tennis centre in the region and has been created to become a focal point for tennis development as Kent Lawn Tennis Association's main country centre.
It will cover all aspects of county tennis including development and mini tennis through to performance squads and high level competitions.
With six indoor courts incorporating four mini courts and four floodlit outdoor courts the facility is open to all on a pay and play basis.
It also offers Kids Zone, an outdoor play area for children under five years old.
The centre was funded by a grant from the New Opportunities Fund of £575,000, along with £750,000 from the British Tennis Foundation/Lawn Tennis Association, £350,000 from Kent Lawn Tennis Association, £160,000 from Bromley Council and £125,000 from Newstead Wood School.
