Park Leisure has been chosen to deliver a new £52,000 play area in Stevenage's Old Town, after four proposals were put before local children to decide.

The Whitesmead Recreation Ground Play Area is being overhauled by Stevenage Borough Council and will feature equipment for children aged between two and 13-years-old. Integrated play provision features at the heart of the Park Leisure proposal to enable young people of all abilities to play together, along with an adventure trail and a natural play offer.

Howard Burrell, the council's executive member for children and young people, said: "This was a great example of the users of a facility telling us exactly what they wanted."
