Pendle Leisure Trust, working in partnership with Pendle Borough Council, will open the landmark project, Wavelengths Studio, in March.

Pendle has been awarded £25 million from the government’s new Towns Fund to support improvements across Nelson through regeneration, improving skills and enterprise and connectivity.

Some £1.6 million of this funding has been allocated to the leisure centre, Pendle Wavelengths, to give the community greater access to health-focused activities and inclusive spaces.

A purpose-built studio is nearing completion which will offer reformer Pilates, as there is very limited availability for this trending modality in the Lancashire town.

, an innovative system aimed at young people that transforms spaces into an interactive environment will also be introduced. By blending fun, fitness and technology, it encourages exploration, play, and interaction.

“Lü gives us a huge opportunity to attract new audiences, particularly through birthday parties, group bookings, and school partnerships, creating a fun and memorable experience that drives repeat visits,” says Simon Gwynne, CEO of Pendle Leisure Trust. “One of the key metrics for the site is to develop and grow a strong junior base and a new modern studio with interactive systems will help us reach these audiences.”

Other new classes which will be introduced include XR2, a dynamic workout using freeweights and cardio equipment, which combines strength, power, endurance, conditioning and mobility. Additionally, Up & Active will deliver regular sessions designed to be supportive and accessible for those managing health conditions.

An interactive water play feature for the Wavelengths pool has been installed and the changing rooms will be upgraded in the coming months.

Simon Gwynne, CEO of Pendle Leisure Trust, said: “We’re delighted to share the exciting news about the improvements coming to Pendle Wavelengths as part of the Nelson Town Deal. This is a fantastic opportunity for the Trust to expand our services, support healthier lifestyles across Pendle, and give people even more reasons to visit Nelson.”
