Preventative health clinic Biograph is actively working on expansion to secure more sites, following the launch of a second clinic in New York City. Potential international sites are in the mix.

The news was revealed to Spa Business and HCM in a recent interview.

The Biograph concept was co-founded by leading longevity figure Peter Attia MD, author of Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity. Attia is also known as the medical expert in Limitless, a National Geographic series which sees actor Chris Hemsworth taking on various challenges – from fasting to swimming in the Arctic – to combat ageing.

The aim of Biograph is to drive meaningful advances in human healthspan and lifespan by collecting more than 1,000 data points from up to 30 client evaluations to provide personalised health plans for its clients.

With the proper application of advanced technology and early detection, Biograph’s mission is to save lives.

The company is one of an exponential number of new players in preventive healthcare – a market expected to reach US$773.1 billion (€682.09 billion, £575.74 billion) in the next nine years, according to US-based Transparency Market Research.

The business is also co-founded by venture capitalist John Hering, known for backing Elon Musk.

The assessment protocol has been refined by Dr Michael Doney, an emergency medicine physician who has turned his focus to precision-longevity practice and research.

Existing clinics

Biograph has been operating since 2020 in the San Francisco Bay area. Over the last five years, the company has welcomed thousands of members – more than 15 per cent of whom have reported they discovered urgent or life-altering health insights after joining. These include diagnoses from cancer and cardiovascular to neurodegenerative diseases.

The second site opened in May this year in New York City. The facilities are designed to offer members a five-star service in spaces that feature human-centred design elements.

Human-centred design

The New York City location is a 15,000sq ft clinic with a reflection pool that serves as a sculptural element and a sensory transition to mark the moment when visitors leave the outside world and enter this new space.

There is also a central courtyard, with design inspired by Japanese gardens, offering a lush escape.

Intentional negative space provides guests with room to relax and experience comfort.

Members relax in private suites between diagnostic tests, with natural light, privacy and views of internal gardens and the city beyond.

The medical approach

The clinic combines advanced diagnostics, such as clinical-grade VO2 max testing and whole-body MRI scans, with the latest medical research, point-in-time assessments and ongoing nutrition and exercise consultations.

It then assesses the risk and insights across five critical health pillars – atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, metabolic dysfunction, brain health and neurodegenerative disease, cancer risk and early detection and quality of life metrics.

Doney told Spa Business exclusively that its Biograph's comprehensive approach across these five specific pillars, which makes it "fundamentally different" to other companies offering cutting-edge diagnostics such as Clinique La Prairie and Fountain Life.

Pricing

The clinic currently offers two membership levels.

Core, which offers 20-plus assessments and initial guidance, is priced at US$7,500 (€6,616, £5,583) a year.

Black, which includes 30-plus assessments and ongoing expertise, costs US$15,000 (€13,232, £11,167) annually.

"The response [from members] has been extraordinary," says Doney. "It’s a strong signal that people are looking for something more empowering when it comes to their health."

In a previous issue of Spa Business, we asked industry experts whether they thought longevity clinics had staying power and the potential to go mainstream – which you can read here.
