Planning permission granted for £16m Dunstable theatre
South Bedfordshire District Council has granted permission for a £16m theatre complex to be built on the site of the Queensway Hall building.
The agreement was reached between the council and the theatre’s primary backer – developer Complex Development Projects – alongside building contractor SDC, venue manager Leisure Connection, Dunstable Town Council and Bellway Homes.
The Grove Theatre will feature a 750-seat auditorium and offer a mixed programme of drama, music, dance and cinema. The complex will also include a terrace area with six restaurants and licensed bar.
Work is due to begin in October and the site should be open to the public by spring 2007.
