Plans for £5.8m arts centre unveiled
The Royal College of Art (RCA) and Imperial College London have formed a strategic partnership in order to create a £5.8m multidisciplinary arts centre called Design-London at RCA-Imperial.
The new centre will aim to bring together the disciplines of design, engineering, technology and business to address the challenges of future innovation.
The project will be partly funded by a £3.8m grant from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) while the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) has agreed to fund the project with £900,000.
The remainder of the funding is being sourced from within the Royal College of Art and Imperial College.
HEFCE chief executive, David Eastwood, said: “This is an exciting partnership which addresses many of our strategic priorities, including the delivery of high-quality learning experiences to meet the needs of the economy and society and the engagement between HEIs and businesses.
