Plans submitted for Bristol stadium
A planning application has been submitted for a new 18,500-all seat stadium for Bristol Rovers FC, on the same site as the existing Memorial Stadium.
The plans for the site include the construction of student accommodation, a hotel, a conference facility, restaurants and bars, a club shop and 28 executive boxes, as well as club facilities for changing, administration and stadium management.
Additional community facilities will be provided, with a creché, a community police station, convenience store and an education suite also proposed.
The east stand will house the conference facilities, which on non-match days will have a capacity for up to 500 attendees. Student accommodation is located along the west and east stands and in three corners, with the hotel in the fourth corner.
The scheme is designed to be self-financing, with the provision of non-match day revenue through the hotel, conferencing and student housing elements.
The new venue would host both Bristol Rovers and Bristol Rugby Football Club in a continuation of the groundshare agreement currently in place at the Memorial Stadium.
