Plymouth museum refurbishment complete
The final phase of a £1.4m scheme to revamp the ground floor of Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery in Devon has been completed with the opening of a new café and retail facility.
Plymouth City Council (PCC) has already carried out work to revamp the attraction's foyer and education room as part of the project, which has also seen four new gallery spaces established and the redisplay of the first floor balcony. The scheme has been funded by a £756,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), as well as match funding from the DCMS' Wolfson Museums and Galleries Improvement Fund and Renaissance in the Regions.
Mark Tosdevin, the museum's visitor services manager, said: "Our refurbishment scheme has enabled us to introduce a whole host of improvements to the museum. It's a real achievement for us to be able to develop our service to meet people's expectations and help them get the most out of their visit."
