Poet's birthplace transformed into 1914 holiday home
The birthplace of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas has been turned into an 'experiential self-catering holiday home' following a refurbishment project.
Guests staying at 5 Cwmdonkin Drive in the Uplands area of Swansea will be given the chance to experience life as it would have been in 1914, the year in which the property was first bought the property. In order to replicate conditions from nearly a century ago, the house has no fridge, no washing machine, no television and no telephone, although there is a gas cooker and a cool pantry. Guests will also be given a 1914 newspaper
Geoff Haden, the local businessman who carried out the restoration project with his wife, Anne, said: "The work we have done is to bring the house back to the condition that it was in when bought by the Thomas family in 1914, just before Dylan was born in the front bedroom."
