Programmes aim to get more young people into sport
Two separate schemes from SkillsActive and the Top Link programme are aiming to get more young people involved in the sports industry.
SkillsActive has announced that the Learning and Skills Council has funded a further 320 students to take part in the Young Apprenticeships (YA) programme for the sport and active leisure sector in sports management, leadership and coaching following a successful year.
Around 5,000 young people across the country will gather in March as part of the Top Link conferences, which will see more than 500 Higher Education students teaching 4,500 14-to 16-year old young leaders the skills to run dance and sport festivals for primary aged pupils in their communities.
The training will take place at 29 universities across the UK. Details: www.skillsactive.com /www.youthsporttrust.org
